I'm dreaming of a green Christmas.

Before I write another word, I must express my deepest sadness for the victims and the families affected by the horrific tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.  It's simply beyond words.  All I can offer are prayers of peace and comfort.

Once again, chances of a white Christmas here in Michigan are not looking good.  So I'll strive for a green Christmas instead.  I'm off to a good start, too!  Remember my post from way back in spring called "Mommy's House Rules"?  Well, I have followed through on my idea of making some cool blocks for the little dudes to play with.  Yay!  Here's where the "green" part comes in:  I had bought a bunch of used blocks at a flea market over the summer.  And I mean used.  They had been drawn on, spilled on, and some were covered with unidentifiable crud.  Ew.

The little dudes didn't mind playing with them in this state, but I wanted to make the blocks a little more special for them.  So I did what any loving mother would do...

I covered the blocks with paper.

I painted them white.

Then I worked my "green" Mommy magic on them!

Now those are blocks that I would love to have my little dudes play with.  I found a cool burlap coffee bean bag at a local green craft place called The Scrap Box, and that will be the wrapping for my gift.  I even used an old Bingo card for the gift tag.  How green is that?

I hope they enjoy playing with these blocks as much as I did!  And maybe, just maybe, when the little dudes are grown up, I can keep the blocks in a "Grandma stash" for entertaining grandchildren.  ;)
